Specialist Neurological and Stroke Physiotherapy in your own home for Banbury and surrounding areas

What can I expect?

In-depth Assessment

I will start by taking a comprehensive history of your problems and what difficulties you are having.  I will also need to know about your medical history and any medication you are taking.  There may be a lot of questions and talking but it is important that I have a good understanding of how your condition has progressed, how it has affected you and what treatment you have had.

Next I will carry out a physical examination to analyse your movement and establish what the main impairments are.  You will need to undress so you might like to wear shorts and a vest.

Goal Setting and Treatment Planning

I will talk to you about what you would like to achieve and will work with you to set realistic goals and expectations of your physiotherapy treatment.  I may use measures to establish a baseline and to monitor progress.  I am realistic about what physiotherapy can achieve and will discuss prognosis with you.  All treatment is individually tailored to you and your personal goals.

Treatment

Treatment is very hands-on and is likely to be physically and at times mentally challenging.  I will continually assess and modify treatment to make sure it is effective and sufficiently challenging.

Where will I be treated?

You will be treated in your own home.  This allows me to see you in your own environment and practice tasks that are meaningful to you.  It means that I can get a true picture of what your condition means to you and its impact on your day-to-day life.

I can also meet you at your gym or local swimming pool to work on exercise, or if your goals are around outdoors we can even work outside.

How long will my appointment last?

Your initial assessment will be at least an hour long.

Follow up treatments are usually an hour long, but for less complex interventions or for people who become too fatigued to manage an hour the session time will be reduced to half an hour.

Cost

Charges for appointments are £75 for the initial assessment.

There will be a charge for travel, this will be discussed upon booking.

After your appointment payment can be made by cash, cheque or BACS.
